George Monbiot offers a succinct critique of how neoliberalism has come to dominate our political and economic world in the last 50 years or so. Its success in minimizing regulations on the “freedom” of the market and effectively controlling the state to do its bidding has taken us to dangerous levels of inequality causing an increasingly violent reaction to it plus a mounting ecological crisis that threatens planetary health as we know it.

While dire, he points to the new stories and many different experiments going on around the world that are creating constructive alternatives. It is in this later mix that we are offering the eco-commons idea and practical initiatives.

Listen to George’s helpful naming of the problem so that we can work together on solutions.
